3rd Day: Schäftlarn – Kloster Andechs

Today  I went with T. to Starnberg. We saw the planetary way where S. created the design and I made the website with additional information.

We ate very good at the Seestub’n Percha. Then T. left to repack the too heavy backpack.

I went on to Kloster Andechs. The church was open.

These were about 26km. And additional 4km to the station of Herrsching. That was tough for the 3rd day…  I feel my feet and legs… But hopefully not too much.

Second Day: Munich – Schäftlarn

Today I started with my family and my friend T. One fun fact: The word Munich (München) is derived from monk (Mönch)… So Munich is a good starting point for a pilgrimage.
The guide book says, we walked 23 km. In Pullach there is a spring with drinking water and there are several inns but some are closed because of corona.

We were glad to arrive in Schäftlarn und ate at the Klosterbräustüberl. For sleeping we went home by S-Bahn.
I write this the next morning and my daughter J. says:“You are crazy to walk on so soon!“… and in some ways she is right, isn’t she?

First Day: Front door – St. Jakobs Platz

There is a travel warning for Spain because of corona and so I canceled my flight to Spain for today.

So I start walking at my front door. Today only to the St. Jakobs Platz in the center of Munich. The church is closed, but I get my first stamp for my credential. Then I walk on to the Isartor…. about 9km.

It is strange, some things are so familiar and some things feel completely different, if I start a Camino from my home.

Day 44: Santiago

Today I visited the portico de gloria in the cathedral. I embraced the image / statue of Apostle and visited the tomb.

All of this is good in the morning at about 8 o’clock.

Later in the day there are many tourists and you have to wait for a long time.

Today I will eat with K. from Switzerland and tomorrow I travel home…. so I do not know  when there will be new posts here.

Day 43: Santiago

Yesterday I met again SYates ( she has the ‚pilgrim meetings‘ ) and Vince from Hungary. He took today the train to Madrid and then a flight home.

And I bought yesterday the Spanish version of ‚The Great Westward Walk‘: El Gran Caminante. It is a book about the camino that has been recommended to me several times and I have got the English ebook already…. so I can try to improve my Spanish if I will be at home.

Today I wanted to have a look at the last part of the Camino Frances…. so I walked in the morning on the Camino Frances backwards to the airport of Santiago de Compostela. There are really many pilgrims on this part of the camino in the morning…. I think it is okay…. but I am pleased with my decision to walk the Camino de Invierno.

Day 41: Logoso – Fisterra

Yesterday pilgrims and I ate together. The end of our camino is close…. with questions like ‚have you learned something on your camino?‘ or ‚when and from where do you fly home?‘.

Today I walked about 28km from Logoso to Fisterra. Here are many pilgrims because it is an end to a camino. I saw the sea….

Today in the evening I want to meet Vince and maybe other pilgrims at cap finisterre.

Day 39: Santiago – Piaxe

Today I walked about 29 km from Santiago to Piaxe.

I woke up at 6 o’clock.

I liked the place in front of the cathdral in the morning. And my backpack has now a ’normal‘ shell from the pilgrim’s office additionally to my small one. I fixed the new shell exactly here in front of the cathedral.

Santiago and the cathedral in the morning….

I walked normally today…. but I felt my feet more than normal because I walked yesterday in Santiago ‚too much‘ only with the sandals and without poles.

A nice view from a bridge near Negreira….
